Audition Notice: Grumpy Old Men: The Musical

 

A Feel-Good Comedy About Rivalry, Friendship, and Finding Resolution!

The classic 1993 film is coming to the stage in this charming and hilarious musical adaptation! Set in the wintry town of Wabasha, Minnesota, Grumpy Old Men: The Musical follows the decades-long feud between neighbors John Gustafson and Max Goldman, whose lives are thrown into delightful chaos when the beautiful and charming Ariel Truax moves in across the street.

***This musical is a true ensemble piece where everyone gets to shine!

  • Principal Characters and Ensemble Members all have lines, participate in musical numbers, and will be featured prominently on stage.
  • The script ensures that all characters sing, sometimes dance, and have significant stage time. There are no small roles in Wabasha!
  • Ages for the ensemble range from 20 years old and up

The Townspeople / Ensemble

The ensemble is integral to the story, portraying the quirky and close-knit citizens of Wabasha. The Townspeople include:

  • Harry (The accident-prone postman)
  • Tim (The dubious minister)
  • Unis (Tim's wife, the avian addict)
  • Stan (The polka champion)
  • Fran (Stan's wife, the town gossip)
  • Karla (Caffeinates all, and also plays the Nurse)
  • Bo and Lo (Hockey-playing, football-throwing, comical, energetic young duo)

Audition Details

January 16, 5-9 PM; January 18, 12-6 PM

January 19, 5-9 PM is reserved for those with conflicts on the 16th or 18th and possible call-backs.  Please contact Lori at 319-461-7393 if you cannot make the 16th or 18th

To audition, sign up for a 15-minute individual time slot (arrive 10 minutes early to fill out an audition sheet).  Auditions will involve cold readings from the script and singing a few bars with the help of our musical director.  Perusal scripts are available at the Washington Public Library.
